Venice - The City Of Water

Venice, located in North Italy is the dream city of every tourist for it surpasses any other city in sheer beauty. It has more than 100 islands, 150 lakes and around 400 bridges. Since the city of Venus has too many water bodies, and lakes, it has earned several epithets as the City of Water, City of Bridges etc. People often take gondolas to move from one part of the city to the other, perhaps a unique attraction only to the city of Venice. Moreover, when the gondola boatman sings while rafting, the pleasure of gondola drive becomes an emotional experience especially for newly wed couples on honeymoon. The old lovers and couples can relive their emotional moments.

Apart from the experience of riding on gondola, there are several more attractions like museums and local festivals like Venice Art Biennale, founded by the mayor of Venice Ricardo Selvatico in 1693. Pizza San Marcos can be really attractive to the tourists for the plaza attracts hundreds and thousands of pigeons that presents a wonderful sight.

There are very few cheap hotels in Venice, for Venice is an expensive city. When you look for a cheap hotel in Venice the place is an important consideration. You might not like to stay in the neighborhoods of Mestre or Lido for the former is in the mainland part of Venice but is insignificant from tourism perspective, while the latter is a remote island in Venice. The Central Venice could perhaps be an ideal location for tourists to stay. You are likely to find some cheap hotels around St Mark's Square.

However, those tourists looking for cheap hotels can explore the hotels that are cheap irrespective of their location. Generally the hotel rates are higher when you get closer to the attractive sites within a city elsewhere. However, this is not true of Venice. Here, you might be able to discover budget hotels near tourism spots. In Venice, the concept of cheap hotel is not exactly cheap for there is never really tourism off season in Venice.

The Academy Gallery at Venice houses a huge collection of paintings from 13th to 18th centuries. Caffe Florian built in 1720 had patrons like Lord Byron, Dickens, and Proust among their regular visitors. The other attractions at Venice include Doge's Palace, Gran Caffe Lavena, Naval History Museum, Rialto Bridge, and the list is almost endless.
